Description of the course
|
The course explains how products, services, sites, materials and
other engineering objects can be uniquely identified on the Internet. A correct use
of the Internet identification scheme (URI) will enable:
- search engines to find your information;
- third parties, such as trade associations and trade directories, to give added
value to your website;
- effective links between your website and partner companies.
|
Sections
|
What is a URI: an overview of Internet identifiers and their
use
What to identify: the use of persistent identifiers in a world which
is continually changing
Reference data: how to reference things defined by other people (and
how to fix up if they do not follow the recommendations in sections (1) and
(2))
|
Beneficiaries of the course
|
This course is aimed at those concerned with e-business within the environmental
sector. The course deals with the way in which websites publish information and
how it is used, and is equally relevant to those specifying the business practice
